Bender Earns Second Career CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor

BEREA, Ohio- For the second time in her career, Baldwin Wallace University and All-Ohio Athletic Conference junior forward Rachel Bender (Massillon/Jackson) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 7 Team and now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot.

First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in December.

A communications disorders and psychology double major, Bender carries a 3.93 GPA and is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

Bender earned her third straight All-OAC first-team selection and her first career OAC Forward of the Year honor after leading the OAC in most offensive categories. She led the Yellow Jackets and the conference in goals (16), points (40) and shots (115) while also finishing second in the OAC with her team-leading eight assists. She recorded her first collegiate four-goal game against Bluffton University on Sept. 16 en route to being named OAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week on Sept. 18.

For her career, Bender has appeared in 64 games and has tallied 46 goals and 21 assists for 113 points, ranking second in school history in career goals scored and points scored and fifth in career assists. 

BW finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 11-8-1 and a 4-4-1 mark in the OAC, advancing to the conference tournament for the fifth consecutive season.
