Women’s Soccer Drops OAC Game at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team was defeated by  the University of Mount Union, 1-0, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game inside Mount Union Stadium.

BW (7-5-1, 1-1 OAC) outshot Mount Union (5-6, 1-1 OAC) 19-16 in the contest and put nine shots on goal.  

The Raiders were led by senior forward Carylyn Balzano and junior goalkeeper Paige Freel. Balzano scored the only goal of the game and Freel made eight saves for the Raiders.

After a scoreless first half where the Yellow Jackets outshot Mount Union 8-4, Balzano netted the game-winner and her third goal of the season at the 47:04 mark to secure the victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Sophia Weidner (Medina) made eight saves for BW in the losing effort.  

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, October 7 when the host Wilmington College in an OAC game on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium at 7 p.m.
