Men's Cross Country Concludes Season Placing 29th in Great Lakes Regional Championships

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country team saw its season come to an end this afternoon, as it competed in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships, hosted by Franklin College in the Blue River Park.

In a 8-kilometer event that was composed entirely of schools within the Great Lakes Region, BW managed to place 29th of 42 eligible teams, scoring 769 points. Fellow Ohio Athletic Conference members, John Carroll University took home the Great Lakes Regional team title with 62 points and Otterbein University placed second with 89 points. Therefore, both John Carroll and Otterbein secured the two regional automatic bids to the NCAA Division III National Championships next weekend in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore Nick Dascani (Toledo/Springfield) as he crossed the finish line in 134th place in a time of 27:27.3. Freshman Carter Almady (Brunswick) finished in 139th place in a time of 27:33.2. Freshman Joe Kelly (Lakewood) placed 161st place in a time of 27:51.5. Freshman Connor Foody (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was in 84th place in a time of 28:24.7.  Freshman Alex Yarian (East Canton) finishing right behind in 81th place in a time of 28:18.9. Junior academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Zach Riggins (Wexford, Pa / Pine-Richland) crossed the finish line in 28:18.2. Closing out the team scoring freshman Robert Bolen (Mansfield/Ontario) placed 186th in a time of 28:27.0
