BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin Wallace University swimming and diving teams split  in dual meet competition tonight (Friday, November 19, 2010) to Ohio Athletic Conference rival the University of Mount Union in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center in Berea.

The BW men won, 127-116, to improve to 3-2-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the OAC, but the women lost to the Purple Raiders, 143-93, to fall to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the OAC this season.  The teams are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Springfield, Ohio and Wittenberg University where they will compete in a tri-match with the host Tigers and traditional rival Oberlin College in the Wittenberg HPE Center at 3:00 p.m.

The Yellow Jacket women were led by sophomore two-time NCAA Division III All-American diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.), the reigning two-time OAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week, as she placed first in both the one-meter voluntary and one-meter optional diving events as she recorded scores of 178.45 and 262.10 points, respectively.  Her 262.50 points eclipses her own school-record of 259.50 points, set two weeks ago in a home meet versus Penn State Behrend. In addition, sophomore Kelsey Richards (Wadsworth) and freshman Angela Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) each swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay team and won an event individually. Richards won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.30 seconds and Musille won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:35.45 and Gerdes.

The Yellow Jacket men were led by senior 6-time Division III All-American diver Todd Richert (North Royalton) as he won the 1-meter voluntary event with 185.00 points and captured the 1-meter optional event with 304.50 points.  In addition, senior Ryan Musille (Canton/ GlenOak) swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay team and won the 50-yard free in 22.26 seconds.

Following its meet against Wittenberg, the Yellow Jackets are idle until December 3-5 when they travel to Fredonia, New York to compete at the annual SUNY-Fredonia Invitational Meet. Preliminary competition each day begins at 10:00 a.m. and the finals for those events will be contested each evening at 6:00 p.m.
