BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:  Mark Zimmerman played four seasons of baseball at Baldwin Wallace University and is one of the best to ever wear the Brown & Gold. He was a first-team d3baseball.com first-team Division III All-American as BOTH a pitcher and utility player and a third-team ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) All-American as a utility player. He also is just one of three baseball student-athletes in OAC history to be named first-team All-OAC four consecutive years.

CAREER SYNOPSIS:  For his career, Mark played in 171 games and had a .368 batting average with a school-record 242 hits in 662 at-bats with 157 runs scored, 52 doubles, 11 triples, 11 homers, 142 RBI and 40 stolen bases in 45 attempts. On the mound, Mark made 31 career appearances (he did not pitch as a freshman), including 23 starts, had a 13-7 record with four complete games. In 157 and one-third innings pitched, he allowed 136 hits and 71 runs (57 earned) and struck out 177 batters and walked just 58. Opposing hitters batted just .227 against him.

ZIMMERMAN'S BASEBALL LEGACY:  Mark and the BW senior class of 2016 graduates with a 111-65 record, three OAC Tournament appearances, including advancing to the OAC Championship Game twice, two NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances, including winning one Regional title (Mid-Atlantioc Region inn 2014) and one NCAA Division III College World Series appearance (2014).

DIVISION III ALL-AMERICAN HONORS:  As a senior in 2015-2016, Mark received first-team Division III All-America honors by the d3baseball.com web site as both a pitcher and utility player and third-team ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) All-American as a utility player.

DIVISION III MIDEAST REGION HONORS: As a senior in 2015-2016, Mark was named as the Mideast Region Player of the Year and as a first-team pick by the ABCA and d3baseball.com web site. As a junior in 2014-2015, Mark was named to the first-team of the D3Baseball.com All-Mideast Region squad and first-team ABCA All-Region. As a sophomore in 2013- 2014, Mark earned second-team ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) and D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region honors.

ALL-MID-ATLANTIC REGION ALL-TOURNEY TEAM:  As a sophomore, Mark earned All-Mid-Atlantic Region All-Tournament team honors and helped BW to win the Mid-Atlantic Regional and advance to the Division III College World Series.

OHIO ATHLETIC CONFERENCE HONORS: As a senior in 2015-2016, Mark was named as the Dr. Bob Fisher Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He also was a first-team All-OAC selection for the fourth straight year. He is just one of three baseball players in OAC history to be named first-team All-OAC for four consecutive seasons.

OAC ALL-TOURNEY TEAM:  Mark was a three-time OAC Tournament all-tournament team selection. He made the squad in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

OAC HITTER OF THE WEEK:  Mark has earned OAC Hitter of the Week honors three times, on each as a sophomore, junior and senior (CLICK HERE to read the story).

SCHOOL RECORDS:  As a hitter, Mark owns three single-season and three career records. In a single-season, he was one of five players to tie a school single-season record by playing 50 games, had the most at-bats in a season (217 in 2014) and was a perfect 17-for-17 in stolen base attempts in 2016. He owns career marks for at-bats (662), base hits (242) and singles (168).

As a pitcher, Mark owns two single-season records. He tied the record for most starts in a season with 12 in 2016 and the most strikeouts in a season with 91 in 2016.

BW ATHLETICS/ BASEBALL HONORS:  As a senior in 2015-2016, Mark received BW's Big Stick Award, symbolic of the team's Most Valuable Hitter.

THROUGH-THE-YEARS: As a freshman in 2012-2013, Mark played his first year of baseball and earned his first varsity letter. He began the season as a utility player, middle infielder and pitcher and ended the season as the starting second baseman. Mark earned first-team All-OAC honors at 2B. He hit .324 (35-for-108) with 19 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, one home run, 23 runs batted-in (RBI) and seven stolen bases in nine attempts. BW tied the single-season school-record of 27 wins and finished 27-13 overall.

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Mark played his second season of baseball and earned his second letter. He started all 50 games at second base and was utilized as a relief pitcher. He hit .373 (81-for-217) with 52 runs scored, 15 doubles, three triples, three homers, 44 RBI and stole eight bases in 11 attempts. His 217 at-bats is a single-season school-record. On the mound, he appeared in eight games, including one start, had a 1-0 record with a 4.86 earned run average (ERA) and struck out 18 opposing batters in 16 and two-third innings pitched. For his efforts, he earned first-team All-OAC and second-team ABCA and D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region honors. He also was an OAC Tournament and NCAA Mideast Region all-tournament team selection. He also was the OAC Hitter of the Week on March 3. BW finished with a school-record 30 wins, a 30-20 record, finished second at the OAC Tournament, earned an NCAA Division III National Tournament At-Large berth, won the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional title and advanced to the school's first- ever Division III College World Series appearance.

As a junior in 2014-2015, Mark played his third season of baseball and earned his third letter. He started at third base and was a member of the pitching rotation. Mark was named as the OAC Hitter of the Week on March 30. He was named first-team All-OAC for the third straight season and earned a spot on the 2015 OAC Tournament all-tourney team. He also was named to the first-team of the D3Baseball.com All-Mideast Region squad and as a first-team ABCA All-Region choice. Mark started all 43 games and batted .379 (66-for-174) with 46 runs scored, 14 doubles, five triples, four homers, 42 RBI and eight steals (in eight attempts).  On the mound, he made 11 appearances, including 10 starts, compiled a 5-3 record with two complete games and one combined shutout. He struck out a team-high 68 batters in 65 innings pitched and opponents batted .239 against him. BW finished with a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 record. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth at the OAC Tournament and advanced to their second straight NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.

As a senior in 2015-2016, Mark played his fourth season of baseball and earned his fourth varsity letter. He was named as a first-team Division III All-American pitcher and vfirst-team utility player by the d3baseball.com web site and as a third-team All-American by the ABCA. Mark was the 2016 Division III Mideast Region Player of the Year and a first-team All-Mideast selection by both the ABCA and d3baseball.com web site, the  Dr. Bob Fisher OAC Player of the Year and a first-team selection for the fourth straight season (see more above). Mark received BW's Big Stick Award, symbolic of the team's Most Valuable Hitter. Mark earned OAC Hitter of the Week honors on April 25, 2016 for his efforts in leading BW to a 4-0 record and batting .500 (9-for-18). This season, Mark batted .368 (60-for-163) with team-highs of 60 base hits, 15 doubles, 30 walks, a perfect 17-for-17 in stolen bases, a 472 on-base average and a .540 slugging average. He also was second with 40 runs scored and three home runs and tied for the most triples with two and tied for second with 33 runs batted-in (RBI).  On the mound, he started a single-season school-record 12 games, had a 7-4 record with a 2.50 earned run average (ERA), two complete games and a pair of shutouts (one individual and one combined) and struck out a single-season school-record-tying 91 batters and walked just 15 in 75 and two-third innings pitched. That is 10.82 strikeouts and just 1.78 walks per nine innings pitched. BW finished 23-20 overall record, tied for second in the OAC with a 13-5 mark and advanced to the OAC Championship Game.
