BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis won final non-conference match of the season as it posted a 7-2 victory against The College of Wooster on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.
BW (11-8) rallied back in all three doubles matches to take the 3-0 lead. The tandem of senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC player Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge) and freshman Imani Robinson (Cincinnati /School for Creative & Performing Arts) earned the comeback win at first doubles by a score of 9-7 and now are a team-best 14-7 on the year. Senior Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/Davidson) and junior Claire Watts (Medina/Highland) won second doubles by a score of 8-6 and improved to 10-11 this season. Sophomore Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) and freshman Kathleen Moser (Strongsville) won a tough third doubles match by a score of 9-8 and 7-5 in the tiebreaker and upped their record to 8-6.
In singles action, the Yellow Jackets took four of six singles matches from Wooster (3-16) to secure the win. Robinson won second singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-1 and is now 14-8 on the year. Donalson took third singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-1 and increased her team-best record to 16-5. Finkenthal earned the victory at fifth singles by scores of 6-1, 5-7 and 10-8 to improve to 11-7 on the year. Moser captured sixth singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-0 and is now 5-2 in her first campaign.
BW is back in action on Wednesday, April 20 when it hosts an OAC match against Ohio Northern University at 3:30 p.m. The Yellow Jackets close out the week when they travel to Bexley for an OAC match against Capital University at 1 p.m.
