Women’s Tennis Competes at Oberlin Invitational

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis competed at the two-day and rained soaked Oberlin College Invitational on the Don Hunsinger Tennis Courts. 

BW (1-1) was led in singles play by senior Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/Davidson) as she went a perfect 3-0 in the invitational.  Donalson knocked off Bonnie Salmeron of The College of Wooster in her first match by scores of 6-7, 6-2 and 10-7.   She then defeated her second straight Wooster opponent with a straight set victory against Katie Kuzmishin by scores of 6-4 and 6-4.   Donalson closed out the invitational with a pro-set victory against Kristie Oravec of Allegheny (Pa.) College by a score of 8-4.

In addition, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC player Kelsey Blatt (Tallmadge), senior Hayley Peterson (Tulsa, Okla.) and freshmen Kathleen Moser (Strongsville) and Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) all had strong showings with a 2-1 record.

In doubles action, the number one tandem of Blatt and Robinson went 2-0 during the invitational and improved to 3-1 on the season.   The duo defeated Andrea Bush and Mikaela Pope of Allegheny by a score of 8-5.   Blatt and Robinson closed out the invitational with an 8-1 victory against Molly Traverso and Ivana Didovic of cross-town rival John Carroll University by a score of 8-1.

The Yellow Jackets close out the fall portion of their schedule on Saturday, September 19 when the team hosts NCAA Division II Clarion (Pa.) University for a non-conference dual match on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.
