Softball Drops Non-Conference Doubleheader to Adrian (Mich.)

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to Adrian College on the Adrian Softball Field. 

Adrian (7-15) won the first game, which was delayed for an hour in the fourth inning due to lightning, by a final score of 9-3.  The Bulldogs completed the sweep as they won the second game by a score of 5-0.

In game one, BW (8-14) scored three runs on three hits as they plated all three runs in fourth inning.  The Bulldogs tallied nine runs on 11 hits as they scored four runs in the second, one run in the third and two runs in both the fourth and sixth innings

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman first baseman Hannah Albrecht (Northridge, Calif./Chaminade College Prep) as she went 1-for-3 with a run batted-in.  Junior pitcher Sam Mott (Frewsburg, N.Y./Central) and sophomore third baseman Paige Loveless (Mechanicsburg) each went 1-for-3 as well while Mott scored a run.   

In the circle, Mott suffered the loss as she allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits in six innings pitched with five strikeouts and six walks.

In game two, BW was held scoreless on three hits.  Adrian scored five runs on 10 hits as it scored one run in the second, two runs in the third, one run in both the fourth and sixth.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference center fielder Alexis Boledovic (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) as she went 2-for-3.  Senior Academic All-OAC pitcher Erica Morgan (Brook Park/Midpark) had the other base knock as she had a infield base hit in her only at bat. 

In the circle, freshman Nikki Turner (Hudson) took the loss as she allowed three runs on five hits with one strikeout and two walks in 2.1 innings. Morgan pitched the final 3.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits with one strikeout. 

BW is back in action on Tuesday, April 11 when it hosts an OAC doubleheader against Heidelberg University on the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 3 p.m.
