BEREA, Ohio --  On Tuesday, July 11, construction continues as crews begin to install turf at the new Baldwin Wallace University and Berea-Midpark High School Softball Complex at the site of the old Roehm Middle School on Bagley Road and a "stone's throw away" from the eastern part of its campus. BW also will become the first Ohio Athletic Conference softball facility to be fully turfed, and it should be ready for the Yellow Jackets to utilize this fall for workouts. 

When completed, The BW and Berea-Midpark Softball Complex will contain two all-turf fields that can accommodate both softball programs.  It will give both programs an opportunity to play simultaneously as well as when there is inclement weather and during the early part of the spring in Northeast Ohio.

"We are extremely grateful to BW administration for working with the Berea City School District and making this project a reality," said veteran Head Coach Tom Spencer, who has won 377 games during his coaching career. "This project benefits our current student-athletes and is a great boost to our recruiting efforts." 

"As we have recruits on our campus, it nice to now be able to show them a first-class pair of in the Packard Athletic Center for training and the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse for indoor practices," said Spencer. "It gives us first-class facilities for our softball student-athletes."

"The complex also will allow us to play softball when many other programs will not due to inclement weather," commented Spencer. "Plus, it offers us a facility where youth and club teams can practice and play during the summer months and when we are not. It becomes great outreach for the University and the school system."
