BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team were runners up at the hosted 53rd Sparky Adams Invitational inside George Finnie Stadium.
BW individual events highlights included:
- Senior David Russo (DePew, N.Y. / DePew) won the 5000-meter run in a time of 15:19.49
- Freshman All-OAC runner Kaeden Faggs (Marion / Harding) placed fourth in the 200-meter run dash in a time of 22.46 seconds
- Junior Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) finished fourth in the 400-meter run in a time of 50.28 seconds
- Freshman Rodney Washington Jr. (Warrensville Heights / Benedictine) placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in a tim eof 11.32 seconds
- Freshman Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station) finishd fifth in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:57.11
- Sophomore Connor Foody (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) placed ninth in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:08.74
Field events highlighted:
- Sophomore Kaleu Tellas (Indianapolis, Ind. / International School of Indiana) with his first ever career win as he won the shot put with a mark of 48' 10¼"
- Sophomore All-OAC high jumper Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) was the runner up in high jump with a height of 6' 5"
- Faggs was the runner up in the long jump with a mark of 21' 4¼"
- Freshman Drexton Friscone (Columbia Station / Columbia) was the runner up in triple jump with a mark of 43' 0¼"
- Sophomore Thomas Hickman (Oxford / Talawanda) finished fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 139' 6" and placed sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 159' 0"
- Junior Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) finished third in javelin throw with a distance of 143' 0"
On the relay side:
- The 4x100-meter relay squad of Faggs, junior Devontae Jackson (Cleveland / John Hay), Sophomore Sean Summers (Avon Lake) and Washington Jr. were runners up with a time of 42.78 seconds
- The 4x400-meter relay team of Foody, senior Nick Dascani (Toledo/ Springfield), Russo and freshman Miles Heyse (Middleburg Heights / Berea-Midpark) won in a time of 3:13.95
The Yellow Jackets are back in action when they travel to Canton on Thursday, April 27th to compete in the Walsh Tune-Up on Larry Staudt Field.
