CLEVELAND - The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team opens its 2022-23 indoor season at the 9th Annual Spartan Holiday Classic hosted by Case Western Reserve University in the Veale Center. The meet was unscored

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

• Senior David Russo (DePew, N.Y.) won the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:43.36
• Junior Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg / Benedictine) won the one-mile in a time of 4:33.26 and won the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:41.28
• Freshman Trey Powell placed eighth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 54.72 seconds
• Freshman Rodney Washington finished sixth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.16 seconds
• Freshman Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station) placed second in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:01.04

Field event highlights:

• Sophomore Kaleu Tellas (Indianapolis, Ind. / International School of Indiana) finished third in weight throw with a distance of 45' 7¾"
• Freshman Drexton Friscone placed fourth in long jump with a distance of 20' 0½"
• Sophmore Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) won the high jump with a height of 6' 4¾"

On the relay side:

• The 4x200 meter relay team Powell, Freshman Jalen Kelso, Friscone, and Washington finished third in a time of 1:36.01
• The 4x400 meter relay team Sikorski, Friscone, Powell and Stanley placed second in a time of 3:37.08

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, January 21 when it travels to Westerville for the Otterbein Invitational in the Clements Recreation Center
