Six Women's Cross Country Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-OAC Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Six Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country student-athletes have been selected to the 2017 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Sophomore All-OAC runner Bella Pendola (Warsaw/River View), sophomore Jordan Dascani (Toledo/Springfield), sophomore Hannah Nagy (Belmont/Linsly), sophomore Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon), Hannah Allenson (Lakewood) and sophomore Claire Makowski (Bethel Park, Pa.) are six of the 40 fall student-athletes to be recognize for their accomplishments in the classroom.

Pendola, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a neuroscience and psychology double major who carries a 3.56 GPA. The Dean's List student led the Yellow Jackets all season and was an All-Ohio, All-OAC and All-Great Lakes Region performer. She won her first individual title at the Shenandoah (Va.) Hornet Harrier Meet and was named OAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the first time in her career. Pendola had a season-best and career-best 6k time of 22:39.8 at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble.

Dascani, who garners her first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.59 GPA. She is a Dean's List student. Dascani ran a season-best 6k time of 27:56.9 at the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.

Nagy, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a biology major who carries a 3.62 GPA. A Dean's List student, Nagy ran a season-best 6k time of 25:06.8 at the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.

Fowler, who garners her first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a communications sciences and disorders and Spanish double major who carries a 3.88 GPA. She is a Dean's List student. Fowler had a season-best and career-best 6k time of 25:39.2 at the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.

Allenson, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a psychology and public health double major who carries a 3.89 GPA. A Dean's List student, Allenson ran a season-best 6k time of 27:18.6 at the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational.

Makowski, who garners her first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a music education major who carries a 3.91 GPA. She is a Dean's List student. Makowski had a season-best 6k time of 24:27.9 at the Inter-Regional Rumble meet.
