NEW CONCORD, Ohio- - The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team tallied its first conference win of the season against Muskingum University, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at McConagha Stadium.
In the first half, BW (5-6-1, OAC 1-0) would find the back of the net seven minutes into the match as senior midfielder Nicole Boyd(Warren/Howland) would score her first goal of the season to put BW up 1-0. Courtney Schutz (Mentor) was credited on the assist. The Yellow Jackets would strike right back as Alex Elliot (Blacklick/IMG Academy) knocked in a header off a corner kick at the 16:09 mark to give BW a 2-0 lead against the Fighting Muskies.
In the second half, sophomore midfielder Kristen Lee (Westerville/ New Albany) scored her first goal of the season at the 47th mark to put BW up 3-0. Schutz was credited on the assist. Muskingum (7-2-1, OAC 0-1) scored its first points of the game at the 70:05 mark. Senior midfielder Hailey Dicky scored her first goal of the season. The assist was credited by Moriah Mathies, but the Yellow Jackets held on to win 3-1. BW has won four of the last five matches and outshot Muskingum 19-12. Senior goalkeeper Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa./ Fairview) earned her fifth win of the season with three saves.
The Yellow Jackets will remain on the road to take on OAC-rival Heidelberg University on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. and will then head out to Marietta College on Friday, October 10 at 4 p.m.
