Men’s Soccer Upended by Defiance in Battle of Yellow Jackets

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team was defeated by Defiance College, 1-0, in the second game of a men's and women's battle of Yellow Jackets doubleheader on Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field.

Defiance (4-5), who snapped a four-game losing skid, has now won two of the last three meetings against BW (3-6-1).

The two teams played to a scoreless first half but BW outshot Defiance 11-1, including a 7-1 advantage in shots on-goal.

Defiance scored the games lone goal just 12 seconds into the second half when Henok Jones found the back of the net.

Senior netminder Zach Haynes (Medina) faced seven shots, including four on-goal and made three saves and allowed one goal.

Despite the loss, BW outshot Defiance 15-7, including 8-4 in shots on-goal.  BW also held the advantage in corner kicks by a count of 8-0.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, September 29 when they host a non-conference game against Grove City (Pa.) College on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium at 7 p.m.
