Men’s Lacrosse Loses at John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse lost to Ohio Athletic Conference cross-town rival John Carroll University, 6-5, on Wasmer Field inside Don Shula Stadium.

BW (13-2, 5-1 OAC) was led by sophomore attack Brock Riemenschneider (Rocky River) who scored two goals and added one assist for three points.

John Carroll (9-5, 5-1 OAC) was led by sophomore attack Connor Pike who scored two goals and added one assist for three points.

The Blue Streaks scored the only goal of the first period when junior attack Michael Hubert scored via an assist from sophomore attack Logan Calhoun at the 6:55 mark.

John Carroll scored the only three goals of the second period to lead 4-0 at the intermission.

The Yellow Jackets opened the third period with an unassisted goal by Brock Riemenschneider at the 10:35 mark to cut the deficit to 4-1. BW continued to cut down the deficit when freshman midfielder Judson Huston (Deleware / Rutherford B. Hayes) scored via an assist from Brock Riemenschneider at the 3:43 mark to make it 4-2. The Blue Streaks scored the last goal of the period with 44 seconds remaining to make it 5-2.

In the fourth period, the Yellow Jackets answered back with three unanswered goals with one apiece from sophomore midfielder Jack Gerlack (Rocky River), Brock Riemenschneider and sophomore midfielder Alex Juhasz (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster Central) with the last coming at the 12:21 mark to tie the game at 5-5. John Carroll scored the final goal of the game and sealed their victory at the 7:18 mark to make it 6-5.

All-OAC sophomore goalkeeper Mike Dizonno (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Stevenson) made seven saves and dropped to 13-2 on the season.

BW is back in action on Saturday, April 30 when it hosts an OAC against Wilmington College on Seniors' and Parents' Day on the Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium at 1 p.m.

The 2016 OAC Tournament semifinals game will be on Wednesday, May 4 at a time to be determined. The winners of the two semifinal games will play in the championship game on Saturday, May 7 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
