Women's Swimming and Diving Falls to OAC, Crosstown Rival John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University swimming and diving team dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet to crosstown rival John Carroll University 144-92 inside the William H. Johnson Natatorium.

Sophomore All-OAC freestyler Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley) brought home two victories in the 1,000-yard and 500-yard freestyle events, winning in 11:21.04 and 5:32.44, respectively. Freshman stroker Marissa Kural (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) and senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) also brought home wins in the 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard backstroke as the freshman swam 2:19.47 in the butterfly and the senior went 2:21.15 in the backstroke.  

Sophomore stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) took second in 200-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 2:01.80.

In the women's relays, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kural, sophomore freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele), senior freestyler Lena Kortis (Canton/Massillon Perry) and freshman stroker Lauren Martello (Huron/Sandusky) won in a time of 3:56.31. Miller, sophomore diver/stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence), Kural and Nockengost combined to take third in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 4:20.83.

BW is back in action when the Yellow Jackets wrap up the home portion of its schedule with a non-conference tri meet with Franciscan University of Steubenville and the University of Pittsburgh and Bradford on Saturday, January 27, at 1 p.m. inside the BW Natatorium.
