Patterson Named OAC Athlete of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Freshman men's tennis player Kyle Patterson (Wooster/Triway) has been named as Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete-of-the-Week. This is Patterson's  time earning this award.

Patterson took home his first honor after going 3-0 at number three singles and 3-0 at number three doubles in three of matches last week.  He won two OAC matches against Heidelberg University and Ohio Northern in straight sets.  He beat Heidelberg 6-1 and 6-1 and then finished the week with scores of 6-2 and 6-2 against Ohio Northern.  He also posted a straight set victory against The College Wooster set scores of 6-0 and 6-2.  In doubles action, Patterson teamed up with sophomore Brad Minrovic (Akron/Ellet) to shutout Heidelberg 8-0 and then teamed up with senior Taylor Long (Ashland) won both their matches against Wooster and Ohio Northern by scores of 8-6 and 8-4.  For the season, he has an overall record of 22-3 and is 13-5 in doubles action.

The men's tennis team will travel to University Heights for an OAC match with cross-town rival John Carroll University tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday, April 24) at 3:30 p.m.   The team will conclude the regular season on Saturday, April 28 when it will welcome Marietta College in an OAC match at 1:00 p.m. and then a non-conference match with Franciscan University at 4:30 p.m.
