Men's Tennis Team Remains Perfect With Defeat Against Wooster

WOOSTER, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace College men's tennis team defeated traditional rival The College of Wooster, 9-0, today (Friday, April 20, 2012) at the D.J. Hard Courts to remain unbeaten at 21-0 and face Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University in an OAC showdown of 6-0 teams tomorrow, Saturday, April 21 in Berea at the "Pop" Collins Courts at 1:00 p.m.

With its loss, Wooster dropped to 6-12 overall.


B-W gained an early 3-0 lead after the doubles competition and won each of the six singles matches to stretch its winning ways.

In singles play, senior Alex Trzeciak (Avon Lake) won 6-2 and 6-4 at No.1, junior All-OAC standout Joe Horvath (North Royalton) won 6-0 and 6-1 at No.2, freshman Kyle Patterson (Wooster/ Triway) won 6-0 and 6-2 at No.3, senior Alexandre Bourdiaux (Paris, FRANCE) won 7-6, 7-3 and 6-4 at No.4, junior Alex Kearney (North Olmsted) won 6-2 and 6-2, junior No.6 player Tyler Beaton (Bemus Point, N.Y./ Maple Grove) won 6-1 and 6-1.


In doubles action, the number one tandem of Trzeciak and Bourdiaux won by an 8-4 score, the No.2 duo of Horvath and Beaton won by a score of 8-0 and the No.3 team of Patterson and senior Taylor Long (Ashland/ Senior) won by an 8-6 score.


Following its match against ONU tomorrow, B-W ends the final week of the regular season when it travels to University Heights on Tuesday, April 24 to play an OAC match against Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at 3:30 p.m. and then at home on Saturday, April 28 versus OAC-rival Marietta College in the second match of a women's and men's doubleheader on the Collins Courts at 1:00 p.m. The Yellow Jacket women play Marietta at 11:00 a.m.

The 2012 OAC Tournament begins with a men's first round match in Berea against a yet to be determined opponent at 3:30 p.m.


On Wednesday, May 2, prior to B-W's first round OAC Tournament match in Berea, the College is going to recognize Coach Rector for his 400th career victory. He is the winningest men's tennis coach in OAC and Ohio collegiate history.
