Baseball Falls to Swarthmore (Pa.)

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – In the second meeting at the Snowbird Classic, the Baldwin Wallace University baseball team fell to Swarthmore (Pa.) University 8-1, at the South County Regional Park.

BW (5-5) plated one run off seven hits.

The offense was led by freshman second baseman Cameron Jones (Naples, Fla./Lely) as he drove in the lone run of the game with an RBI single to right in the first. Senior ABCA/Rawlings All-American selection and All-Ohio Athletic Conference centerfielder Dudley Taw (Sheffield Lake/Brookside) went 2-for-3 at the dish and junior All-OAC shortstop Alex Ludwick (Brunswick/Padua Franciscan) tallied a hit and scored a run. Freshman first baseman Luke Vonderhaar (New Bremen) and senior left fielder Jacob Bonner (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) each recorded a hit while freshman pinch-hitter Ryan Guggenheim (Solon) got a base-knock and stole a base.

Freshman right-hand pitcher Dawson Gabe (Lawrence, Ind.) received the nod and dealt 3.0 innigs where he allowed four runs(one earned) off five hits and struck out five in the loss. Senior two-time Academic All-OAC left-hand pitcher Michael Hubert (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) entered in the fourth and pitched 4.0 innings and allowed three runs(zero earned) off two hits and struck out one. Sophomore right-hand Pitcher Maxwell Cebulak (Oakmont, Pa./Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) threw one inning and struck out one, while sophomore pitcher Garret McLeod (Medina) wrapped up the ninth with 1.0 innings pitched where he allowed one earned run off two hits and punched out one.

The Yellow Jackets have added a game against Susquehanna (Pa.) University for Saturday, March, 14 with first pitch at 10 a.m.
