Baseball Falls to Susquehanna (Pa.) in Extra Innings

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team fell to Susquehanna (Pa.) University 5-4, in 10 innings, at the North Charlotte Regional Park.

BW (4-4) notched four runs off seven hits and two extra-base hits.

The offense was led by senior two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference right fielder Brandon Dim (Solon), who tallied two runs-batted in(RBI). Freshman first baseman Luke Vonderhaar (New Bremen) notched an RBI single to left in the seventh to tie the game at three, and also scored a run. Sophomore Drew Wilson (Sagamore Hills/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) pinch hit in the seventh and plated a run with a single to right. Sophomore catcher JT Mazula (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and senior Jacob Bonner (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) each recorded a hit and a run scored. Freshman second baseman Cameron Jones (Naples, Fla./Lely) and freshman third baseman Chris Viamonte (Naples, Fla./Lely) each tallied a hit while junior All-OAC shortstop Alex Ludwick (Brunswick/Padua Franciscan) registered a hit and two stolen bases.

Senior right-hand pitcher Max Adams (Massillon/Washington) made his first start of the season for the Yellow Jackets. He dealt 6 innings and allowed three earned runs of three hits and struck out a career-high eight batters. Senior two-time Academic All-OAC left-handed pitcher Michael Hubert (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) entered in the seventh and threw four innings where he allowed two earned runs off four hits and struck out six in the loss.

BW returns to the diamond tomorrow to square off with NCAA Division l Butler (Ind.) University. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
