BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:  Hunter Handel played four seasons of baseball at Baldwin Wallace University and earned four varsity letters. He ended his career as one of the best to ever play at BW.

HANDEL'S BASEBALL LEGACY:  Hunter  and the BW senior class of 2016 graduates with a 111-65 record, three OAC Tournament appearances, including advancing to the OAC Championship Game twice, two NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances, including winning one Regional title (Mid-Atlantioc Region inn 2014) and one NCAA Division III College World Series appearance (2014).

THREE-TIME FIRST-TEAM ALL-OAC HONORS: Hunter earned first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors three straight years, as a sophomore, junior and senior.

ALL-MIDEAST REGION HONORS:  As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Hunter was a second-team All-Mideast Region pick by the ABCA/ Rawlings committee and a third-team All-Mideast Region choice by the D3Baseball.com committee. As a junior in 2014-2015, Hunter was named second-team All-Mideast Region by D3baseball.com.

ALL-OAC TOURNEY TEAM:  As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Hunter earned all-tournament team honors at the 2014 OAC tourney.

PRE-SEASON DIVISION III ALL-AMERICAN: As a senior in 2015-2016, Hunter is a 2016 d3baseball.com Division III pre-season All-American selection.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE:  Hunter was a strong student-athlete who carried a 3.39 grade point average.

CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT 7 PICK:  Hunter earned 2016 CoSIDA Division III Academic All-District 7 honors. CLICK HERE to read the story. He also appeared on the CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America national ballot but was not selected.

OAC HITTER OF THE WEEK:  As a senior in 2016-2017, Hunter was named as the OAC Hitter of the Week on May 2, 2016. CLICK HERE to read the story.

HUNTER'S BW RECORDS:  Hunter is BW's toughest-ever hitter to strike out. He owns the single-season record with just 11 strikeouts in 154 at-bats (.071) and for a career with 54 in 533 career at-bats (.101).

HUNTER'S CAREER SYNOPSIS:  Hunter is one of the best hitters to ever step to the plate at Fisher Field. He played in 154 career games and batted .343 (183 for 533) with 86 runs scored, 33 doubles, five triples, 13 home runs, 147 runs batted-in (RBI/ seven off the all-time school-record) and 12 stolen bases. Hunter also was an excellent defensive player at first base.

THROUGH-THE-YEARS: As a freshman in 2012-2013, Hunter played his first season of baseball and earned his first varsity letter. He came off the bench to play 1B or serve as a DH or pinch hitter. He appeared in 24 games, including 12 starts, and batted .255 (13-for-51) with four runs scored, two doubles and six runs batted-in (RBI). He helped BW tie the single-season record for wins with 27 and finish 27-13 overall.

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Hunter played his second year of baseball and earned his second letter. He appeared in 44 games, including 42 starts at DH, and batted a team-leading .385 (62-for-161) with 31 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 47 RBI. He earned first-team All-OAC honors, was a second-team All-Mideast Region pick by the ABCA/ Rawlings committee and a third-team choice by the D3Baseball.com committee. Hunter also earned all-tournament team honors at the 2014 OAC tourney. He helped BW to win a single-season school-record 30 games, compile a 30-20 record, place second at the OAC Tournament, win the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament and advance to the school's first-ever Division III College World Series.

As a junior in 2014-2015, Hunter played his third season of baseball and earned his third letter. He started at either first base or designated hitter. Hunter played in 43 games and started 42 and was third on the team in hitting at .353 (59-for-167) with 27 runs scored, 12 doubles, a team-leading six home runs and 49 RBI and stole three bases in four attempts. In the field, he handled 120 chances with just one error for a .992 fielding average. Hunter was named first-team All-OAC and second-team All-Mideast Region by D3baseball.com. BW finished with a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 record. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth at the OAC Tournament and advanced to their second straight NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.

As a senior in 2015-2016, Hunter played his fourth season of baseball and earned his fourth letter. He was one of the top hitters in Division III for the third straight season. He was a 2016 D3baseball.com Division III pre-season All-American selection. He started at either first baseman or designated hitter. Hunter slugged two home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in a career-high six runs in a 19-5 win at Pitt-Greensburg on April 27, 2016. He was subsequently named as the OAC Hitter of the Week on May 2, 2016. Hunter was a first-team All-OAC selection for the third straight season and was tabbed as a CoSIDA Division III Academic All-District 7 student-athlete. For the season, Hunter played in all 43 games, batted .318 (49-for-154) with a career-high 28 runs scored, 11 doubles and eight stolen bases. He also had two triples, three homers and 45 RBI. BW finished 23-20 overall record, tied for second in the OAC with a 13-5 mark and advanced to the OAC Championship Game.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION:  Hunter Handel grew up in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Green High School.

Hunter played four years of baseball and lettered two times. Hunter also played four years of hockey and earned four varsity letters. He also ran one year of cross country and earned one varsity letter. 

In baseball as a senior, Hunter was named as an All-Suburban League second team selection.
