BW Softball Team Drops Two Close Games at Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team dropped a pair of close Ohio Athletic Conference games against Ohio Northern University at the ONU Softball Field.

The Polar Bears (17-9, 9-5 OAC) won the first game, 2-0, and captured the nightcap, 1-0. This was the third doubleheader in three days for BW (10-20, 2-12 OAC.)

In the first game, Ohio Northern scored the only runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.

At the plate, the Yellow Jackets had five hits and were led by sophomore right fielder Darcy Daniel (Sandusky/ Perkins) as she was 2-for-3 with a double.  On the mound, sophomore Erica Morgan (Brook Park/ Midpark) started and pitched six innings and suffered the loss to drop to 4-11 this season. She allowed seven ONU base hits, two runs (both earned), struck out two and walked one.

In the second game, the Polar Bears  scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.

At the plate, BW managed just two base hits.  On the mound, Morgan started and pitched the first two innings, allowed one base hit and no runs, struck out one and walked one. She was replaced by sophomore Samantha Dostall (Oberlin/ Firelands) who pitched four and one-third innings and took the loss to fall to 6-9 this season. She allowed four base hits and one run (earned), struck out one and did not walk a batter.

BW returns to action on Thursday, April 16 when its travels to Greensburg, Pennsylvania to play Pitt-Greensburg in a non-conference doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. BW returns home to host the University of Mount Union in an OAC twinbill on Saturday, April 18 at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field at 1 p.m.
