BEREA, OHIO - Senior Kim Chinn (Zanesville/West Muskingum) earned All-Region honors as she finished third overall of 240 women as the Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team placed seventh and the men finished 16th today (Saturday, November 13) at the 2010 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship Meet, hosted by Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
Chinn's third place individual finish advances her to next Saturday's NCAA Division III National Championship Meet hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. In addition, sophomore Sarah Rospert (Milan/Edison) earned All-Region honors with a 33rd place finish. The men's team was paced by sophomoreKenny Janosko (Mentor) who placed 25th to earn All-Region status as well. The top 35 runners in each race earned All-Region status.
The women had 261 total points and the men scored 468 points as Calvin (Mich.) College won both the men's and women's team titles.
Chinn led the BW women as she covered the six kilometer course at West Ottawa Golf Club in 21:40.9.Rospert followed Chinn with a time of 22:53.1. Next for the Yellow Jackets was sophomore Lauren McGaughey (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) who finished in a time of 23:32.3 to place 60th overall. Senior Katie White (Berea) finished 81st in 23:50.5 and freshman Lauren Hutka (North Ridgeville/Midview) rounded out the top-5 with a 95th place finish in 24:04.7.
Also running for the BW women were senior Karin Coyne (Columbia Station/Columbia) who was 109th in 24:15.9 and freshman Jamie Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/South) who ran a time of 24:17.5 to finish 113th.
Janosko led the way for the Jacket men by placing 25th of 240 total runners as he completed the 8K course in 25:47.8. Junior Zach Szablewski (Tiffin/Calvert) was second for BW in 41st, crossing the line in 26:03.2. In addition, junior Tom Wilkin (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) finished 121st in 27.04.4, sophomore Nick Jeffers (South Amherst/Firelands) was 138th in 27.20.9 and freshman Dusan Vasic (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) rounded out the BW scoring in 154th with a time of 27.39.3.
Also competing in the race for BW were sophomore David Gerding (Strongsville) who was 155th in 27:41.5 and sophomore Andy Ventura (Avon) who was 161st with a time of 27:50.1.
