BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Tony Tatro has announced the addition of Karson Burkey as an assistant coach.
"We are thrilled to welcome Karson to our coaching staff," said Tatro. "His passion for lacrosse, proven leadership as a two-time captain at the NCAA Division I level, and strong commitment to respect and loyalty will bring immense value to our program both on and off the field."
Burkey comes to BW after completing his collegiate career at nearby NCAA Division I Cleveland State University.
While at Cleveland State, he was a four-year letter winning defender and two-time team captain for the Vikings. Burkey appeared in 45 career games where he recorded 59 ground balls, caused 33 turnovers, took six shots and had one assist. "I am thrilled to advance my lacrosse career in this exciting new role, stated Burkey. "I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to support our student-athletes in achieving success both on and off the field. A heartfelt thank you to Coach Tatro and Director of Athletics Steve Thompson for entrusting me with this incredible chance."
In addition to Cleveland State, Burkey has served as an assistant coach at Resolute Lacrosse. With Resolute, he taught foundational skills, facilitated drills, and led effective team building exercises resulting in improved team cohesion, enhanced performance, and increased overall success in competitions.
Burkey earned a Bachelor of Science in health services and is finishing up his master's in business administration at Cleveland State.
