Junior Josh Scott Throws No-Hitter as Baseball Defeats Ohio Christian, 12-0

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO -- Junior right-handed pitcher Josh Scott (Strongsville) threw a no-hitter as the Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team defeated Ohio Christian University, 12-0, today (Saturday, March 19, 2011) at Veterans Administration Memorial Stadium. The game was shortened to seven innings because of the 10-run rule.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-4 overall prior to playing traditional rival Oberlin College later today at 5:00 p.m.

Scott went seven innings and struck out six without allowing a walk. He improved his season record to 2-0 overall. His perfect bid effort was derailed by an error and a passed ball on a third strike as OCU only had two baserunners. Scott's no-hitter was the fourth school history and the first since Aaron Krieger no-hit Ohio Northern in 2005.

The Yellow Jackets struck first as they scored two in the first inning and added another run in the second inning.  B-W would increase its lead to 8-0 after scoring five runs in the fourth and would make it 11-0 after scoring three more runs in the fifth inning.  B-W added one more run in the sixth bringing the score to 12-0.  The game ended after the seventh inning due to the 10-run rule.

At the plate, the Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore first baseman Dan Craft (Elmira, N.Y./ Southside) and sophomore centerfielder Nolan Neuschaefer (Elyria/ Senior) as each player had two base hits.  Craft went two-for-three knocking in two runs batted in and Neuschaefer also went 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI and three runs scored.  Senior catcher John Ulanski (Bay Village/ Bay) and sophomore second baseman Keith Blazek (Erie, Pa./ Cathedral Prep) each had a hit and knocked in two RBI.

Following tonight's game versus Oberlin, the Yellow Jackets play a doubleheader against Oberlin tomorrow in Chillicothe with the first game starting at 11:00 a.m. The Yellow Jackets first home game is on March 26 when B-W hosts NAIA foe Malone University at Heritage Field in a single nine-inning game at 1:00 p.m
