Edmonds Tosses Complete Game as Baseball Team Beats OAC Rival Muskingum, 4-1

PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA. -- Junior right-handed pitcher Brent Edmonds (Olmsted Falls) tossed a complete game to earn his first collegiate win as the Baldwin-Wallace College baseball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum University, 4-1, today (Tuesday, March 8, 2011) at the Snowbird Baseball Classic at North Charlotte Regional Park.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 2-2 overall as earlier today, B-W defeated OAC foe Wilmington College, 14-6. With its loss, Muskingum dropped to 1-3 overall.


The Yellow Jackets gained a 1-0 lead in the fifth, added two runs in the sixth and one in the eighth. Muskingum added a run in the ninth.


Edmonds went the distance on the mound, allowing only one unearned run on four hits without striking out a batter.


At the plate, B-W had 10 hits as junior catcher Jordan Barnett (Willard) led the way with three hits in four at-bats including a double and a run scored. Freshman first baseman Drew Mahler (Wooster) went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in. Junior shortstop Anthony Longhitano (Cuyahoga Falls) was two-for-four with an RBI.


The Yellow Jackets are off tomorrow and then play The College of Mount St. Joseph on Thursday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m.
