Complete USTFCCCA Division III All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Five Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field student-athletes have combined for seven United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Great Lakes Region honors.

Junior two-time All-American distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit), junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins/Western Reserve), senior All-OAC sprinter Grace Nemeth (Medina), freshman All-OAC hurdler Amanda Milo (Akron/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) and freshman All-OAC distance runner Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa/Central Mountain) received seven of the 964 total All-Region accolades handed out by the USTFCCCA.

Brennan was recognized in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs, adding up to four career USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Great Lakes Region honors. The junior won the 800 at both the All-Ohio and OAC Championships and then added another OAC crown in the 1,500. This season, Brennan has posted a season-best time of 2:10.13 in the 800 and a career-best time of 4:36.25 in the 1,500 as she ranks third and ninth in those events, respectively.

Buckhannon repeated as an All-Great Lakes Region selection in the hammer throw this season. She won the hammer throw at the OAC Championships with a mark of 165 feet, 6 inches and also was the runner-up in the discus with a 130'8" toss. Buckhannon hit a career-best hammer mark of 175'6" at the University of Akron Campbell-Wright Open, which puts her ninth in Division III in the event.

Nemeth earns her first two outdoor All-Region accolades in the 100- and 200-meter dash. The senior captured a pair of All-Ohio honors with runner-up finishes in both her events. This season, Nemeth posted career-best times of 12.31 seconds in the 100 and 25.38 seconds in the 200.

Milo follows up her All-OAC honor in the 100-meter hurdles with her first outdoor All-Great Lakes Region honor. The freshmen had a pair of third-place finishes at both the All-Ohio and OAC Championships with times of 15.12 and 14.88 seconds, respectively. Just a few days ago at the Great Lakes Final Qualifying meet, Milo posted a career-best time of 14.37 seconds which ranks her 13th in the event.

Laughner also garners her first outdoor All-Region accolade after her first individual All-OAC honor in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Competing in her first 3,000 steeplechase at the OAC Championships, the freshman finished as the runner-up, just 0.02 seconds behind the now three-time defending event champion. Laughner then ran a career-best time of 10:55.36 at the Harrison Dillard Twilight, which puts her 18th nationally in the event.

Brennan, Buckhannon, Laughner and Milo each will continue their seasons at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted Thursday through Saturday, May 23-25, at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
