NEW ORLEANS – Baldwin Wallace University Coordinator of Cross Country and Track and Field and Assistant Track and Field Coach Joe Eby has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.

In his fourth year as the distance coach, Eby led his crew to 55 of the team's 113 points at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships in addition to 45 of the 85.5 points at the All-Ohio Indoor Championships. Junior outdoor All-American distance runner Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) also rewrote the BW record books during the season, breaking school records in three different events for a total of four times.

"I am very honored to receive this award," Eby said. "We have a very strong region and a lot of great coaches and athletes in it."

During the cross country season where he serves as head coach, Eby was also named the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Women's Coach of the Year. In 2018, the Yellow Jacket women captured the school's first regional team title, men's or women's, as BW won the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships.

Brennan will continue her track season under Eby's direction when she competes in the 800-meter run at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday, March 8-9, at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
