TIFFIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University notched its second straight Ohio Athletic Conference victory, defeating Heidelberg University by a final score of 12-3 inside Hoernemann Stadium.

Senior attack Caitlin Wheeler (Lake Mills, Wis./Oak Park-River Forest {Ill.}) led BW (5-6, 3-0 OAC) with a game-high five goals and a team-high three caused turnovers, marking the second straight five-goal game for the senior. Junior All-OAC midfielder Megan Patrick (Ravenna/Kent Roosevelt) netted three goals and team-highs of six ground balls and six draw controls while junior All-OAC attack Hannah Albrechta (Uniontown/Green) scored three points off two goals and one assist. Sophomore midfielder Jordan Paugh (South Lyon, Mich.) and junior attack Mackenzie Moran (Carlisle, Pa.) each recorded one goal and one assist. Sophomore midfielder Savanna Jaekle (Lockport, N.Y.) tied a career-high with two assists, rounding out the multiple point scorers for the Yellow Jackets

Freshman attack/midfielder Angela Lulejian led Heidelberg (5-5, 1-2 OAC) as the team's only multi-goal scorer with two goals. Junior attack/midfielder Abby Rose scored the Student Princes' only other goal of the night.

Both offenses struggled to start the first half as five turnovers were committed before either team could get off a shot. Paugh was finally able to break the stalemate when she netted a free position goal with 24:24 remaining in the half. Over ten minutes passed before another ball found the back of the net, this time off the stick of Wheeler. The Yellow Jackets would add one more goal for a 3-0 lead when Heidelberg finally got on the scoreboard with 7:39 left on the clock. However, Wheeler and Moran would each score to give BW a 5-1 lead at halftime.

The offense hit a different note in the second half as the Yellow Jackets continued its 2-0 run by opening the period with three consecutive goals, including Patrick's first two of the game. The Student Princes put an end to the bridged run with their second goal of the night at the 21:14 mark. Wheeler would counter with her third goal of the night just a few minutes later, kick-starting a 4-0 run for the Yellow Jackets, but Heidelberg finished off the night's scoring with its final goal with 1:23 left on the clock.

BW will continue OAC action when the Yellow Jackets host Capital University on Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m. inside George Finnie Stadium.
