BEREA, Ohio – In a game dedicated to the One Love Foundation, the Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team fell 20-8 to Ohio Athletic Conference and crosstown rival John Carroll University at George Finnie Stadium.

The One Love Foundation was created with a mission of educating and empowering young people to end relationship violence.

Sophomore All-OAC midfielder Hannah Stein (Medina/Highland) led BW (5-8, 3-2 OAC) with three goals. Sophomore All-OAC attack Brie Martineau (Strongsville) scored two goals in her first game this season back from injury and senior attack Caitlin Wheeler (Lake Mills, Wis./Oak Park-River Forest {Ill.}) also netted two goals for the Yellow Jackets

Senior midfielder Meghan Harte and sophomore attack Colleen Grombala led John Carroll (10-1, 3-1 OAC) with game-highs of six goals apiece. Junior attack/midfielder Alexis Guage rounded out the multi-point scorers for the Blue Streaks with one goal and one assist.

Determined to have a quick start on offense, BW jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals from Wheeler, sophomore midfielder Savanna Jaekle (Lockport, N.Y.) and Stein. However, the Blue Streaks quickly recovered and scored four consecutive goals to take their first lead of the game 4-3 at the 22:28 mark. Martineau then netted her first goal of the season to tie the game at 4-4 with 20:17 left in the first half before John Carroll ripped off another 4-0 run to take an 8-4 lead. The Blue Streaks would add five more goals before the half compared to the Yellow Jackets' two goals and led 13-6 at halftime.

John Carroll got the second half started with a free position goal and added two others to build up to a 10-goal lead at 16-6 with 26:02 remaining. BW would score two of the next three goals to come with nine goals of the lead at 17-8 but John Carroll regained a 10-goal lead by closing out the game with three consecutive goals for the 20-8 victory.

BW will be back in action on Saturday, April 14, when the Yellow Jackets travel to Ada to take on Ohio Northern University at 1 p.m. inside Dial-Roberson Stadium.
