BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College football team fell to Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington College, 27-20, today (Saturday, November 8, 2008) at Williams Stadium in Wilmington before 1,265 fans.

B-W answered on its next possession when junior running back Kyrell Crook (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) broke off a career-best 50-yard touchdown run with 9:05 left in the first quarter. The rush capped off a five play, 67 yard drive. The PAT by sophomore Brad Pollock (Broadview Hts./Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) made the score 7-3 Yellow Jackets.

The Quakers responded at 4:00 of the period when Billy Blackburn hooked up with Jeremy Stuckey for a 25-yard TD strike. Pohly's extra point made the score 10-7. The Yellow Jackets needed just two offensive plays to regain the lead as senior wide receiver Steve Price (North Olmsted) scored off of a 21-yard pass from junior quarterback Anthony Gardner (Rocky River/Lakewood St. Edward) with 1:04 remaining in the first. The drive was set up by a fumbled punt by the Quakers and Pollock's PAT made the score 14-10.

The scoring slowed down in the second quarter but Wilmington managed to score twice on a Pohly 28-yard field goal at 10:34 and a Brandon Hiatt four-yard TD reception at 2:07 following a Yellow Jacket turnover.

Early in the third quarter, the Quakers threatened to add to their lead following a BW botched punt return but a blocked field goal by Yellow Jacket senior safety Karl Schreiber (Bay Village/Bay) kept the score at 20-14.

After a quick possession by the Jacket offense, Wilmington once again threatened to score but saw a promising drive end when B-W junior linebacker Ryan Clokey (Massillon/Perry) stuffed Wilmington's Austin Laury on a fourth and goal from the one. The score once again remained 20-14 late in the third.

The Quakers kept the pressure on and broke through at 13:51 of the fourth quarter when Blackburn and Hiatt hooked up for the second time, this one a 21-yard TD pass. Pohly's third extra point made the score 27-14 Quakers.
