Baseball Jumps to Top Spot For First Time in Program History

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - For the first time in program history, the Baldwin Wallace University Baseball team has been ranked the No. 1 team in the nation according to the latest D3Baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 Poll. 

BW sits at the top of the rankings with a total of 601 points and 15 first-place votes just ahead of second-ranked Salisbury (Md.) University with 540 total points and three first-place votes and third-ranked Endicott (Mass.) College with 534 total points. Rounding out the top five are Shenandoah (Va.) University with one first-place vote and 503 points, and the University of Lynchburg (Va.) with two first-place votes and 487 points. The Yellow Jackets are joined by one other Ohio Athletic Conference school in the Top 25 as Marietta College was ranked 20th with 161 total points. 

The Yellow Jackets improved to 3-1 on the season after taking down the preseason favorite Johns Hopkins (Md.) University by a score of 5-1 and splitting two games against No. 24 Arcadia (Pa.) University at the Baltimore Invitational hosted by Johns Hopkins.

BW is back in action next week as it travels to Punta Gorda, Fla. to compete in the Snowbird Classic and the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic on its annual spring break trip. The Yellow Jackets take on No. 14 nationally ranked Misericordia (Pa.) University on Saturday, March 2 at 3 p.m. at Centenniel Park #10.
