ACADEMIC MAJOR: Accounting and Finance

BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:  Cory Waite played four seasons of baseball at Baldwin Wallace University and had an outstanding career both academically and athletically.

The All-Ohio Athletic Conference and three-time Academic All-OAC pitcher earned his fourth varsity letter.

ACADEMIC HONORS:  Cory carried a 3.54 grade point average, was a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. He also was a member of the Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society. As a sophomore in 2011-2012, red-shirt junior in 2013-2014 and senior in 2014-2015, Cory earned Academic All-OAC honors.

ATHLETIC HONORS:  As a freshman in 2009-2010, Cory received the Most Outstanding Freshman Award. As a red-shirt junior in 2013-2014, Cory was named as the OAC Pitcher of the Week on April 5, 2014. He also earned second-team All-OAC and third-team 2014 D3Baseball.com All-Mideast Region. Cory also was BW's co-Most Outstanding Pitcher Award winner. As a senior in 2014-2015, Cory was the OAC Pitcher of the Week on March 17, 2015.

RECORD-SETTER:    Cory owns the school career record for the most appearances by a pitcher with 64.

GENERAL BASEBALL INFORMATION:  Cory Waite had an outstanding four-year career at BW and was considered the "ace" of the pitching staff for two seasons. He helped the Yellow Jackets win 17 games as a freshman, 27 in each his sophomore (sat out due to an injury) and red-shirt sophomore seasons, 30 as junior and a school-record 31 as a senior. He helped BW reach the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament twice and advancec to the school's first-ever NCAA Division III College World Series in 2014.

Individually, Cory pitched in a school-record 64 contests, including 23 as a starter, and had two complete games and three shutouts (two combined). He had a 10-7 record with two saves and a 4.03 earned run average (ERA). He allowed 195 base hits in 176 and one-third innings with 112 strikeouts.

As a freshman in 2010-2011, Cory played his first season of baseball and earned his first varsity letter. He appeared in 10 games out of the bullpen and compiled a 0-0 record with one save, a 2.70 earned run average (ERA) and 13 strikeouts in 16 and two thirds innings. For his efforts, he earned the Freshman of the Year award as voted on by the players. B-W finished 17-17 overall.

As a sophomore in 2011-2012, Cory played in his second season of baseball and earned his second letter. He tied B-W's single-season appearances record with 18 (broken a year later by teammate Dylan Fodor). He compiled a 0-0 record with a save and a 1.66 earned run average and struck out 18 batters in 21 and two-thirds innings pitched. Cory was named Academic All-OAC Cory helped B-W win a school-record 27 games finish 27-13 overall.

As a junior in 2012-2013, Cory tried to play his third season of baseball and was injured and had to miss almost all of the season. He appeared in six games, including four starts, and compiled a 1-2 record with a 5.87 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 15 and one-third innings pitched. BW again won a school-record 27 games finish 27-13 overall.

As a red-shirt junior in 2013-2014, Cory is playing his third season of baseball and earned his third letter. He was the ace of the pitching staff. He appeared in 20 games, including 11 starts, and compiled a 7-3 record with a 3.51 ERA and struck out 42 batters in 84 and two-third innings pitched. Cory also pitched two complete games and had one shutout. He earned second-team All-OAC honors and was a third-team D3Baseball.com All-Mideast Region selection. Cory also was named Academic All-OAC for the second time and was BW's co-Most Outstanding Pitcher Award winner. He helped BW to win a single-season school-record 30 games, compile a 30-20 record, win the Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional and advance to the school's first-ever Division III World Series.

As a red-shirt senior in 2014-2015, Cory played his fourth season of baseball and earned his fourth letter. He was the OAC Pitcher of the Week on March 17 for his efforts on BW's annual spring break trip. Despite battling a season-long arm injury, Cory had a 2-2 record with a 6.39 ERA in 10 appearances, including eight starts. He struck out 27 batters in 38 innings pitched. BW finished with a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 record. The Yellow Jackets advanced to their second straight OAC and NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION:   Cory Waite grew up in Willoughby, Ohio and graduated from Willoughby South High School.

He played baseball for four years and earned two varsity letters.  He also played football, wrestled and ran cross country for one season each, but did not earn a letter.

In baseball as a senior, Cory was named to the Greater Cleveland All-Star team and was selected as a Lake County News-Herald Player of the Week.

In the classroom, Cory was on the Honor roll and was Student of the Month. He also received the Willoughby Baseball Scholarship and the Eaton Family Credit Union Scholarship.
