ACADEMIC MAJOR:  Sport Management

BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:  Eric Murphy played four seasons of baseball at Baldwin Wallace University (2012-2015). The three-year starter and All-Ohio Athletic Conference shortstop earned four varsity letters.

ATHLETIC HONORS:   As both a sophomore in 2012-2013 and junior in 2013-2014, Eric earned the BW Baseball Gold Glove Award. As a junior in 2013-2014, he was named to the OAC Tournament all-tournament team. As a senior, Eric earned second-team All-OAC honors.

SCHOOL RECORDS:  Eric owns the single-season record for defensive assists (130 in 2014) and tied with four others for the most games played in a season (50) and the career mark for assists. He also struck out the most times (99). 

GENERAL BASEBALL INFORMATION:  Eric Murphy had a solid four-year baseball career at BW. He helped the Yellow Jackets compile a 115-58 record, advance to two OAC tournaments and earn a pair of NCAA Division III National Tournament berths, including a Mid-Atlantic Regional title and a berth in the 2014 Div. III College World Series.

Individually, Eric was a three-year starter and four-year varsity contributor at shortstop.  He was an All-OAC choice as a senior and owns two individual and one combined school records. Eric played in 168 games, including 165 starts, and batted .294 (182-for-620) with 110 runs scored, 34 doubles, 14 triples, two home runs, 128 runs batted-in (RBI) and 19 stolen bases. He also had a .403 slugging and .364 on-base average.

As a freshman in 2011-2012, Eric played his first season of baseball and earned his first varsity letter. He played mostly played at third base. He appeared in 35 games, including 34 starts, and batted .295 (38-of-129) with 16 runs scored, four doubles, five triples, one home run, two stolen bases and 31 RBI. B-W won a school-record 27 games and finished 27-13 overall. 

As a sophomore in 2012-2013, Eric played his second season of baseball and earned his second letter. He was named as BW's Gold Glove Award winner for his defense. He appeared in 40 games, including 38 starts, and batted .278 (40-of-144) with 30 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples, two stolen bases and 32 RBIs. BW again tied the single-season school-record of 27 wins and finished 27-13 overall. 

As a junior in 2013-2014, Eric played in his third season of baseball and earned his third letter. He was named as BW's Gold Glove Award winner for the second straight season and was tabbed to the OAC Tournament all-tournament team. Eric played and started in all 50 games at short stop for BW. He had 33  runs, 56 hits, 13 doubles, three triples, one homerun, 42 RBI, and a .309 batting average. Eric also had five stolen bases and a .908 fielding percentage. He helped BW to win a single-season school-record 30 games, compile a 30-20 record, win the Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional and advance to the school's first-ever Division III World Series.

As a senior in 2014-2015, Eric played his fourth season of baseball and earned his fourth letter. He earned second-team All-OAC honors. He started all 43 games and batted .289 (48-for-166) with 31 runs scored, 10 doubles, four triples, 23 RBI and three steals. BW finished with a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 record. The Yellow Jackets advanced to their second straight OAC and NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION: Eric Murphy grew up in Brook Park, Ohio and graduated from Midpark High School.

Eric played four years of baseball and earned four varsity letters. Eric also played two years of basketball and earned one varsity letter.

In baseball as a senior, Eric was honored as the Player-of-the-Week once and was named as a First-Team All-Southwestern Conference performer.

Academically, Eric was a member of the Honor Roll.
