ACADEMIC MAJOR: Pre-Physical Therapy

BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:  Hunter Handel played his third season of baseball at Baldwin Wallace University in 2014-2015. The two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and All-Mideast Region first baseman/ designated hitter is one of the top hitters in Division III.

BASEBALL HONORS: As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Hunter earned first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors, was a second-team All-Mideast Region pick by the ABCA/ Rawlings committee and a third-team All-Mideast Region choice by the D3Baseball.com committee. He also earned all-tournament team honors at the 2014 OAC tourney.

As a junior in 2014-2015, Hunter was named first-team All-OAC and second-team All-Mideast Region by D3baseball.com.

GENERAL BASEBALL INFORMATION: As a freshman in 2012-2013, Hunter played his first season of baseball and earned his first varsity letter. He came off the bench to play 1B or serve as a DH or pinch hitter. He appeared in 24 games, including 12 starts, and batted .255 (13-for-51) with four runs scored, two doubles and six runs batted-in (RBI). He helped BW tie the single-season record for wins with 27 and finish 27-13 overall.

As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Hunter played his second year of baseball and earned his second letter. He appeared in 44 games, including 42 starts at DH, and batted a team-leading .385 (62-for-161) with 31 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 47 RBI. He earned first-team All-OAC honors, was a second-team All-Mideast Region pick by the ABCA/ Rawlings committee and a third-team choice by the D3Baseball.com committee. Hunter also earned all-tournament team honors at the 2014 OAC tourney. He helped BW to win a single-season school-record 30 games, compile a 30-20 record, place second at the OAC Tournament, win the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament and advance to the school's first-ever Division III College World Series.

As a junior in 2014-2015, Hunter played his third season of baseball and earned his third letter. He started at either first base or designated hitter. Hunter played in 43 games and started 42 and was third on the team in hitting at .353 (59-for-167) with 27 runs scored, 12 doubles, a team-leading six home runs and 49 RBI and stole three bases in four attempts. In the field, he handled 120 chances with just one error for a .992 fielding average. Hunter was named first-team All-OAC and second-team All-Mideast Region by D3baseball.com. BW finished with a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 record. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth at the OAC Tournament and advanced to their second straight NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.

As a senior in 2015-2016, Hunter is playing his fourth season of baseball and hopes to earn his fourth letter.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION:  Hunter Handel grew up in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Green High School.

Hunter played four years of baseball and lettered two times. Hunter also played four years of hockey and earned four varsity letters. He also ran one year of cross country and earned one varsity letter. 

In baseball as a senior, Hunter was named as an All-Suburban League second team selection.
