Women's Soccer Team Defeats SUNY-Geneseo, 1-0, in PSU-Behrend Tournament

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team defeated SUNY-Geneseo, 1-0, in the opening round of the Penn State Behrend Herb Lauffer Tournament in Erie, Pennsylvania today (Saturday, September 6, 2009).  With the win, the Yellow Jackets advance to tomorrow's championship game at 12:00 p.m. versus PSU-Behrend.

With the win, B-W also improves 2-0 on the season, while SUNY-Geneseo falls to 1-1.

The lone score of the match was supplied by senior All-OAC defender Stephanie Geiger (Berea), who tallied her first goal of the season at the 49:43 mark off an assist following a corner kick from junior defender Caitlin Sutter (Toledo/Sylvania Southview).

Overall, the Blue Knights outshot B-W, 11-4 and outcornered the Jackets, 7-1.

In goal, sophomore Meagan McLaughlin (Warren/Cardinal Mooney) earned her first shutout as a Yellow Jacket by making seven total saves in 90 minutes played.

After tomorrow's championship game, the next women's soccer game is on Wednesday, Sept. 9 when the Yellow Jackets host traditional rival Oberlin College at 7:00 p.m. at Finnie Stadium in Berea.
