
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team fell to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Wilmington College, 2-0, tonight (Saturday, November 1, 2008) in Wilmington in their regular season finale.
With its loss, the Yellow Jackets dropped to 7-8-3 overall and 4-5 in the OAC. With its win, Wilmington improved to 14-5-0 overall and 7-2 in the OAC.
In the first half, Wilmington opened the scoring at the 37:16 mark when Lauren Mumaw scored off an assist from Britney Beck. The Quakers would maintain their 1-0 lead into halftime. However, Wilmington would add the insurance goal at the 57:38 mark when Katie Skaleski scored unassisted to make the score 2-0. The B-W offense was led by sophomore midfielder Ellie Reinbrecht (Sylvania/Toledo St. Ursula) who had three shots.
In goal for B-W, sophomore Becky Miner (Berea) played all 90 minutes, faced 11 Quaker shots, allowed two goals and made nine saves.
Wilmington won the battle of shots, 17-9, and corner kicks, 7-2.
BW has secured the number six seed in the 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament which begins on Tuesday, November 4. The Yellow Jackets will play an away match on Tuesday versus the number three seed as the brackets, sites and times will be announced later tonight.
