BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women"s golf team stands fourth of 16 teams after the first day (Saturday, September 18, 2010) of the Mercyhurst College of Pennsylvania Tournament at the Downing Golf Course in Erie. The second day of action takes place tomorrow.
The Yellow Jacket "A" team carded a first round total of 335 strokes and was led by sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference player Brooke Hamilton (Cleveland/ St. Joseph Academy), who carded an 80 on the par 72 and 6,008-yard Downing G.C. layout. She was followed by freshman Emilee Woolf (Ravenna/ Senior) with an 82, freshman Miranda Cunningham (Dayton/ Dayton Christian), freshman Miranda Rockich (Akron/ Green) with an 87 and freshman Rebecca Jones (Hilliard/ Darby) with a 91.
The Yellow Jacket "B" team shot a first round total of 359 strokes and stands 11th after the first day. Sophomore All-OAC player Rebecca Kapusta (Independence) and freshman Mary Crisafio (Pittsburgh, Pa./ The Linsly School) as each player shot an 86. In addition, freshman Sarah Allred (Akron/ Green) had a 91, senior Diana Han (Curitiba, BRAZIL) had a 96 and sophomore Sarah Terrill (Cuyahoga Falls/ Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) had a 99.
Following tomorrow's second round at Mercyhurst, the Yellow Jacket women will be back in action on Satuday, Sept. 25 at the Capital University Purple & White Tournament and on Sept. 26 at the Grove City College of Pennsylvania Tournament.
