Jelani Watts enters his first year as an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant at Baldwin Wallace University in 2023-24.

Watts will serve as the primary contact for men's and women's bowling, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's lacrosse, men's soccer and men's and women's track and field and STUNT.

The native of Las Vegas, Nevada, comes to Berea after earning a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and media studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas this past May. He also earned an undergraduate certificate in sport leadership and management. Watts graduated cum laude in the top 10 percent of his class. While at UNLV, he served as an athletic communications intern in his final semester. Watts wrote event previews, feature stories, game recaps and kept statistics for many of the UNLV athletics programs, primarily for the Rebels softball team.

In addition, he was a marketing assistant with the 2023 National Hockey League Champion Vegas Golden Knights. Watts also has an extensive background as an anchor, host, producer, and reporter with UNLV-TV. He anchored the Emmy award-winning television sportscast, Rebel Report, and co-hosted the Emmy award-winning television show, University Speaks. Additionally, he was a promotions assistant with Highway Radio and an intern for KTNV Channel 13.

Watts, who began his duties on August 7, 2023, will be pursuing a Master of Business Administration in strategic marketing. He is a member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
