Four Women's Soccer Student Athletes Earn Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association Honors

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Four Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer student athletes have been recognized by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association to the All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio teams. 

The Yellow Jackets place two on the All-Ohio team with senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) receiving a first-team selection and junior All-OAC defender Ella Barth (Highland/Mayfield) being selected to the All-Ohio third team. Barth was also selected to the Academic All-Ohio first team along with senior All-OAC midfielder Jillian Neal (Fairlawn/Copley). Senior defender Paige Ackerman (Sandusky/St. Mary Central Catholic) also received second-team Academic All-Ohio honors.

Rice earns her third straight OCSA honor and her second career All-Ohio first-team selection. In the 2023 season, Rice led the OAC in goals with 14 and in points with 36 on her way to an All-OAC first-team selection. She was also second in the conference with a career-high eight assists and took a team-leading 92 shots with 51 on goal after starting all 20 games for the Yellow Jackets. In her career, Rice has appeared in 57 games and has made 55 starts. She has totaled 43 goals and 12 assists for 98 points. Rice currently sits at third on BW's career scoring list and at fifth on BW's career overall scoring list. She has taken 308 shots with 160 on goal. 

Barth, also an Academic All-OAC selection, was named to the OSCA All-Ohio third team for the second straight year and earns her first career Academic All-Ohio honor. Barth appeared in and started all 20 games this season. She was fourth on the team with a career-high four goals, was tied for third on the squad with a career-best three assists, and was third on the team with a career-high 11 points. Barth tallied 20 shots with 12 on goal. In her career, Barth has appeared in 53 games and has made 49 starts. She has scored nine goals and added six assists for 24 points on 60 shots with 32 on goal. Academically, Barth has a 3.62 grade point average as an exercise science and spanish double major and is also a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. 

Neal, a three-time Academic All-OAC selection, earns her first career OSCA Academic All-Ohio selection after appearing in 18 games and made 16 starts this past season. She was tied for fourth on the team in assists with one, and recorded one point while taking 15 shots with five on goal earning her a spot on the 2023 All-OAC Third Team. In her career, Neal has appeared in 58 games making 38 starts while scoring one goal and two assists for four points, and has taken 73 shots with 33 on goal. Academically, Neal has a 3.86 grade point average as an early childhood education major. She is also a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

Ackerman receives her first career Academic All-Ohio honor after appearing in 18 games, making 17 starts, and taking two shots this season. In her career, Ackerman has appeared in 49 games making 38 starts while registering one assist and one point. She has recorded nine shots with two on goal. Academically, Ackerman has a 3.44 grade point average as a criminal justice major. She is also a Dean's Scholarship Recipient, a John Kennedy and Marjorie Robinson Chance Scholarship Recipient, and a Dean's List student.
