Three Women's Soccer Student-Athletes Selected to All-OAC Team

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Three Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2023 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

Senior forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) earned a first-team selection, freshman defender Ella James (Loveland) earned second-team recognition, and senior midfielder Jillian Neal (Fairlawn/Copley) received a third-team selection.

Rice receives her third straight All-OAC accolade and her second All-OAC first-team selection. Rice appeared in and started 20 games for the Yellow Jackets and led both the OAC and the team in goals with 14 and in points with 36. She also was second in the OAC with a team-leading eight assists, and led the conference with 92 shots with 51 on goal. Rice was awarded OAC Offensive Player of the Week on September 5 for her first career weekly accolade.

In her career, Rice has appeared in 57 games and made 55 starts. She has totaled 43 goals and 12 assists for 98 points. Rice sits at third on BW's career goal scoring list and at fifth on BW's career overall scoring list.  She has taken 308 shots with 160 on goal. 

James earns her first career All-OAC accolade after recording a career-high three assists, which was tied for third on the team, and three points in her 20 starts as a freshman. She was also named to the 2023 OAC All-Tournament Team for the first time in her young career. This season, James took eight shots with four on goal.

Neal, a two-time Academic All-OAC selection, receives her first career All-OAC accolade after appearing in 18 games and made 16 starts. She is tied for fourth on the team in assists with one, and recorded one point while taking 15 shots with five on goal. In her career, Neal has appeared in 58 games making 38 starts while scoring one goal and two assists for four points, and has taken 73 shots with 33 on goal. 

BW ended its OAC Tournament-qualifying season with a record of 8-8-4 and an OAC record of 4-4-1.
