Leightner Named OAC Wrestler of the Week

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – For the second time in his career, junior 157-pounder Dalton Leightner (Ravenna/Rootstown) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week.

As the only Yellow Jacket to go undefeated at the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals with a perfect 5-0 record, Leightner led BW to a seventh-place finish at the prestigious tournament. The junior secured two victories over top-ten opponents in his respective weight class. The first was a 23-6 technical fall over No. 10 Martine Sandoval of Wartburg (Iowa) College, and a 5-0 decision over No. 6 Cole Erickson of the University of Mount Union.

Leightner holds a 69-29 career record, which places him at No. 36 on BW's all-time career wins list. Of those victories he has registered 26 pins, 16 tech falls and nine major decisions.

BW will be back in action on the road when they travel to University Heights to face Ohio Athletic Conference and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Tony DeCarlo Center at 7 p.m.
