Three Women’s Basketball Players Selected to All-OAC Team

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Three Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball players have been named to the 2023-24 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

Junior forward Bella Vaillant (Perrysburg) was selected to the first team.  Junior guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) was named to the second team.  Junior guard Emily Irwin (Pickerington/Pataskala Watkins Memorial) was tabbed as honorable mention. 

Vaillant garners her second career accolade after being a second team honoree last season.  This season, she appeared and started in all 26 games and led the team in rebounding and was third in the OAC with a career-best 7.8 rebounds-per-game.   Vaillant also led the team in scoring with 10.3 points-per-contest.  She also recorded a career-highs in assists with 27, blocks with 11 and double-doubles with five.  Vaillant had 14 steals and was named the OAC Player of the Week on December 11 and to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on December 12.   For her career, Vaillant has appeared in 79 games with 54 starts.  She has recorded 627 points, 421 rebounds, 53 assists, 43 steals, 17 blocks and eight double-doubles.

Ressler earns her second career honor after being tabbed as honorable mention a season ago.  This season, she appeared and started in all 26 games and led the team in steals with a career-best 34.  Ressler was second on the squad with a career-highs in assists with 42 and rebounding with 7.2 rebounds-per-contest.  She also was second on the team in scoring with 9.0 points-per-game while she tallied nine blocks.  Ressler was named the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Chuck Resler Tournament Most Valuable Player on November 11, the OAC Player of the Week on November 13 and to the OAC All-Tournament Team on February 24. For her career, Ressler has appeared in 74 games with 47 starts.  She has tallied 560 points, 432 rebounds, 101 assists, 67 steals and 36 blocks.  Off the court, Ressler is an Academic All-OAC honoree, Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

Irwin garners her second career accolade after being a first team selection last season.   This season, she appeared and started in all 26 games and led the team with a career-high 57 assists and 45 three-pointers made.  Irwin was third on the team in scoring with 8.0 points-per-contest.  She recorded a career-best 62 rebounds and tallied 28 steals and three blocks.   Irwin was named to University of Rochester (N.Y.) Chuck Resler All-Tournament Team on November 11.  For her career, Irwin has appeared in 80 games with 53 starts.  She has recorded 705 points, 148 assists, 133 rebounds, 85 steals and 10 blocks.  Off the court, Irwin is an Academic All-OAC honoree, Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

BW, who was the OAC Regular Season Champions with an overall record of 20-6, is back in action on Friday, March 1 when it travels to New Paltz, New York for a NCAA Division III Tournament First Round game against Trinity (Conn.) University in the Hawk Center on the campus of the State University of New York at New Paltz at 5 p.m.
