BEREA, OHIO -- Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference right-hander pitcher Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/ Field) matched a career-high by hitting two home runs and pitched a one-hitter in shutting out Ohio Northern University, 9-0 in five innings, in the second game of an OAC doubleheader at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Field.

The doubleheader split lifts BW to 19-15 overall and 4-8 in the OAC.  ONU falls to 9-11 overall and 8-6 in the OAC.  Today's doubleheader was the Yellow Jackets' seventh in the last nine days.

Murray, who hurled her sixth shutout of the season and the ninth of her career, allowed three hits or less for the seventh time this season.  She struck out four batters and walked just two, and improved to 16-7 in her 15th complete game of 2013.  She also authored the NCAA's first back-to-back perfect games earlier this season.

In the second inning, junior left fielder Nikki Peskura (Strongsville) singled in senior right fielder Alyssa Brown (Hudson) and senior All-OAC designated player Ashley Elber (Huron/Edison) before Murray blasted a three-run home run and stake BW to a 5-0 lead.

BW plated two more runs in the third and moved to a 7-0 advantage.  Elber's sacrifice fly scored sophomore All-OAC shortstop Brittany Lightel (Tallmadge), who singled to start the inning, and Brown scored from third base when sophomore first baseman Mackenzie Brua's (Avon) stolen base drew a throw to second.

Back-to-back homers by Murray and junior All-OAC third baseman Kaity Mullen (Avon Lake) in the fourth sealed the win for BW.

Murray was 3-for-3 and matched career highs with four runs batted-in and three runs scored, and hit her team-leading eighth and ninth home runs. Mullen went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run and Brown was 2-for-2 with two runs.

The Yellow Jackets close the 2013 campaign this week with an OAC doubleheader Tuesday, April 23 at Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at 3 p.m. before facing Case Western Reserve University in a non-league twinbill on Thursday, April 25 at 3:30 p.m.  BW also hosts Marietta College on Seniors' Day on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m.
