KISSIMMEE, FLA. -- The Baldwin-Wallace College softball team earned a split today (Wednesday, March 7, 2012) against Albion (Mich.) College and Bluffton University on the third day of the annual Rebel Spring Games at Osceola County Softball Complex.
The Yellow Jackets shutout Albion by a final score of 7-0 and then fell to Bluffton 6-1 in the final game of the day. B-W ends its spring break trip with a pair of games on Thursday, March 8.
In game one, the Yellow Jackets offense produced seven runs on seven hits led by sophomore third baseman Lauren Feciuch (Kent/Field) as she went 2-for-3 with a double, homerun and three runs batted in. Freshman shortstop Brittany Lightel (Tallmadge) went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored. Sophomore first baseman Kaity Mullen (Avon Lake) went 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored.
On the mound, sophomore Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/Field) picked up her second win of the season as she pitched five scoreless innings. Murray struck out five batters and allowed one walk and just two hits. Sophomore Nikki Peskura (Strongsville) made her collegiate debut in relief as she pitched two scoreless innings. Peskura struck out one batter and allowed just one hit.
In game two, the B-W offense scored one run on seven hits and was led by Mullen and Lightelwho each went 2-for-3.
On the mound, three Yellow Jacket pitchers combined to allow six runs on 13 hits.
B-W closes out its spring break trip with games against Sage (N.Y.) College and Thomas More (Ky.) University at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
