In game one, the Storm scored four runs on seven hits while holding the Yellow Jackets to just two hits both off the bat of senior outfielder Sarah Baker (Mentor/Lake Catholic).
On the mound, sophomore pitcher Justina Wise (New London) pitched six innings and allowed four runs, seven hits and struck out four and walked one batter in her first action of the season.
In game two, B-W scored four runs on four hits and recorded four stolen bases. Sophomore third baseman Lauren Feciuch (Kent/Field) led the offensive attack as she went 2-for-3 with an RBI, stolen base and one run scored. Freshman shortstop Brittany Lightel (Tallmadge) and freshman first baseman Mackenzie Brua (Avon) each recorded their first career stolen base.
On the mound, Wise and sophomore Tabitha Murray (Mogadore/Field) combined for an eight hit shutout. Wise pitched five scoreless innings, allowed seven hits and struck out four batters. Murray pitched the final two innings and struck out two and allowed just one hit.
B-W continues play at the Rebel Spring Games tomorrow (Tuesday, March 6, 2012) as it will face Bluffton University and Methodist (N.C.) University on the third day of action. The Yellow Jackets play at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
