TEMPE, Ariz. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team has been recognized as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III All-Academic Team for the eighth consecutive year while five individuals have also been named ITA Scholar Athletes.

To earn the All-Academic Team honor, a program must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale with all varsity letter winners factored into the team GPA. To earn Scholar Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letter winner, carry at least a 3.50 GPA for the academic year and have been enrolled at the institution for at least two semesters.

BW finished the 2017-18 academic year with a cumulative team GPA of 3.514 and is one of two Ohio Athletic Conference schools to be honored.

"The focus on detail and balance again this year made it possible for us to succeed in the classroom and on the tennis courts," said Veteran Head Coach Brian Rector '89. "I am proud to be a part of this intelligent group of student-athletes at BW as they build on past results and set the foundation for our future success. The Division III student-athlete philosophy is alive and well here at Baldwin Wallace University."

Among the individual student-athletes recognized as ITA Scholar Athletes are 2018 graduate Alex Papke (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson), juniors Roger Boyer (Medina/Brunswick), Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) and Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) and sophomore Jake Elbin (Findlay).

The Yellow Jackets finished the 2017-18 season with a 15-5 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the conference, advancing to the OAC semifinals for the third straight season.
