BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team fell to both Grove City (Pa.) College 6-1 and Capital University 5-1 in an 0-2 week. 

Week in Review

-Senior forward Ryan Hassell (Southampton, Bermuda/Western Reserve Academy) and sophomore midfielder Bryce Posner (Aurora) accounted for both of BW's goals this week while the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Forward of the Year, junior two-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC forward Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark) notched two assists

-Junior Academic All-OAC forward Rafael Davalos (Kettering/Alter) and senior forward Logan Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland) each earned their first start of the season in Saturday's game against Capital. "The infusion of Rafael and Logan worked quite well," head coach Reid Ayers said. "They responded the way we wanted them to with their first starts of the year."

-BW outshot its opponents 39-32 on the week

-Ruple leads the OAC in shots taken (53), is tied for second in assists (6), is second in points (24) and is tied for third in goals (9)

-Junior Academic All-OAC forward Cannon Dees (Berea/Berea-Midpark) is fourth in the conference with his five assists

-Ayers' take: "We're doing a lot of good things but we're just making mistakes at bad moments that are killing us. We need to eliminate those mistakes."

-The Yellow Jackets continue OAC action with games against Ohio Northern University and Otterbein University. "It's another brutal week," Ayers said. "But, to be fair, that's the Ohio Athletic Conference. There are good teams everywhere." 

-Wednesday, Sept. 26 vs. Ohio Northern (8-2-1, 1-0 OAC)-> The Polar Bears are ranked ninth within the Great Lakes Region and come into the game riding a seven-game winning streak. "We have another home game against Ohio Northern. It'll be good to be at home and we hope to have a good crowd. We're just in a spell of our schedule where we're playing regionally ranked teams," Ayers said.

-Saturday, Sept. 29, at Otterbein (3-4, 0-1 OAC)-> Otterbein is the defending regular season and tournament champions, receiving the OAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament last fall. "On the road at Otterbein is always a difficult place for us to play," Ayers said. 

-Focus for the week: Improve transitional speed on both sides of the ball by starting attacks and getting organized quicker
