Eleven Men's Soccer Student-Athletes Land on Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Eleven Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer student-athletes have landed on the 2018 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Senior defender Jeremy Foust (Strongsville), senior defender Joey Rini (Vermillion), junior forward Joey Geither (Parma/Normandy), senior defender Michael Somody (North Canton/Hoover), junior three-time All-OAC forward Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark), junior forward Cole McDaniel (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem), junior forward Cannon Dees (Berea/Berea-Midpark), junior defender Blake Knox (North Canton/Hoover), sophomore defender Dan Boyes (Smithville), sophomore midfielder Bryce Posner (Aurora) and sophomore forward Michael Colabianchi (North Royalton) are 11 of 54 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this fall.

Foust, who earns his third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a psychology major who carries a 3.85 GPA. Academically, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Psychology Club and Honors Program, a STEM Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. For his career, Foust appeared in 75 games and recorded two assists for two points.

Rini, who garners his third straight Academic All-OAC accolade, is a film studies major who carries a 3.82 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of both the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society and the Honors Program. In his career, Rini appeared in 27 games and scored one goal for two points.

Somody, who earns his second Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major who carries a 3.59 GPA. Academically, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. In his career, Somody appeared in 16 games on the back line while also serving as student manager for both the men's and women's team as a senior.

Geither, who is named to his second Academic All-OAC team, is digital media and design: interactive design major who carries a 3.89 GPA. A Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar, he received the 2017 BW Academic Excellence Award for men's soccer by having the highest GPA on the team. For his career, Geither has appeared in 49 games and has recorded 10 goals and 11 assists for 31 points.

Ruple, who earns his second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting major who carries a 3.89 GPA. Academically, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, an Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA) Academic All-Ohio selection and a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American. On the field, Ruple is a three-time All-OAC selection, a two-time OCSA All-Ohio selection, a United Soccer Coaches Division III All-Great Lakes Region selection and a two-time winner of the BW Most Outstanding Offensive Player award. In his career, he has appeared in 57 games and has tallied 41 points and 23 assists for a school-record 105 points.

McDaniel, who garners his second straight Academic All-OAC accolade, is a broadcasting and mass communication major who carries a 3.60 GPA. He is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. For his career, McDaniel has appeared in 33 games and has recorded three goals and one assist for seven points.

Dees, who is named to his second Academic All-OAC team, is a sport management major who carries a 3.52 GPA. Off the field, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a student assistant in the Office of Athletic Communications and an Athletic Department student intern. For his career, Dees has appeared in 32 games and has tallied three goals and seven assists for 13 points. 

Knox, who earns his first career Academic All-OAC honor, is an international business major who carries a 3.51 GPA. Off the field, he is a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. For his career, Knox has appeared in three games. 

Boyes, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a chemistry major who carries a 3.97 GPA. A Dean's List student, Boyes has appeared in six games in his career and taken one shot. 

Posner, who is named to his first Academic All-OAC team, is an accounting major who carries a 3.88 GPA. He is a Dean's List student and also received the BW Co-Rookie of the Year award as a freshman last season. In his two-year career, Posner has appeared in 38 games and has recorded six goals and seven assists for 19 points.

Colabianchi, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is a marketing major who carries a 3.56 GPA. A Dean's List student, Colabianchi has appeared in two games in his career.
