ACADEMIC MAJOR: Computer Science

BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION: Jake Opincar played four seasons of men's lacrosse at Baldwin Wallace University and earned four varsity letters. He is one of BW's all-time leaders in ground balls and helped the program to an OAC Co-title.

OPINCAR'S BW LACROSSE LEGACY: Jake helped the Yellow Jackets to compile a 39-18 career record. He led BW to a 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference regular season co-championship and a single-season school-record for victories with 14 and a 14-3 record. Jake also helped BW win a school-record 11 straight games to begin the 2015 season.

CAREER SYNOPSIS:  Jake played four years of lacrosse and earned four letters. He played in 53 career games, including 10 starts. He took 39 total shots, including 14 on-goal, scored eight goals and added 10 assists for 18 career points. Jake also had 168 career ground balls and caused 30 turnovers.

THROUGH-THE-YEARS: As a freshman in 2012-13, Jake played his first season of lacrosse and earned his first varsity letter.  He appeared in all 11 games, including one start, and was the primary midfielder on faceoffs. He won 101-of-164 faceoffs for a .616 faceoff percentage.  He took 32 shots, including 10 on-goal, scored six goals and added five assists for 11 points. Jake led the team with 76 ground balls, and caused six turnovers.  BW finished 6-5.

As a sophomore in 2013-14, Jake played his second season of lacrosse and earned his second letter. He played in all 14 games, including four starts, and had one assist. He also collected 34 ground balls, caused nine turnovers and was 45-of-91 on faceoffs. BW finished 7-7 overall.

As a junior in 2014-2015, Jake played his third season of lacrosse and earned his third letter. He played in 15 games, including four starts, took six shots, including three on-goal, and scored two goals and added four assists for six points. He also had 32 ground balls and caused eight turnovers. BW finished with a school-record 12 victories, including a record 11 straight wins to start the season, a 12-3 record and advanced to the OAC Tournament semi-finals.

As a senior in 2015-2016, Jake played his fourth season of lacrosse and earned his fourth letter. The defensive midfielder appeared in 14 contests, took one shot (on-goal), had two assists for two total points, caused seven turnovers, tallied 27 ground balls, and won 15 face-offs. Jake picked up a season-high nine ground balls in an OAC game against Wilmington College on April 30, 2016.  BW set a single-season school-record for wins with 14, finished 14-3 overall and tied for the OAC regular season title with a 6-1 record.

HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION: Jake Opincar grew up in Middleburg Heights, Ohio and graduated from Padua Franciscan High School in Parma, Ohio.  He played four seasons of football and earned two varsity letters, played basketball for two seasons, and earned a pair of varsity letters in both his seasons of lacrosse.

As a junior in 2010-11, Jake was a second-team all-region honoree in football.  As a senior in 2011-12, Jake was a first-team All-North Coast League pick and was named second-team all-district and All-Sun in football.  He was also named first-team All-NCL and all-region in lacrosse.

ACADEMIC AWARDS AND HONORS:  Jake was a member of the honor roll in both ninth and tenth grade and a member of the high honor roll his junior and senior year.
